Okay, as a peace offering for making you wait, here is a small excerpt from the chapter I’ll be posting on Thursday. Enjoy!
Seeking Out Signs of Water
The most ignored tools in the wild are a person’s own senses. If we can’t see it, it isn’t there…or at least, that’s the way the typical mind works in emergency situations. But it is there…and we either find it, or we die. So, how do you find it?You look for any number of cues: if there is lots of lush greenery, there is water somewhere…even if it’s underground. If there is a dry streambed, there is likely some water still trapped in the mud beneath. If you can hear birds, then there’s a water source typically within five miles. If you hear frogs, there’s likely a water source within 500 yards. Use all of your senses.
Everything you see, touch, taste, smell and feel can be a potential lead for new work…because chances are you bought it. If you bought it, someone sold it. And if someone is selling it, there’s a chance they might need help selling it.
What did you eat last night for supper? Each of those foods was bought buy you. And the place you bought them from bought them from someplace else. Chances are that place bought them from still someone else. If that person was the original producer, then they bought supplies and materials from someone else to grow and/or raise it. And they all pay someone ELSE still to transport it.
Open your eyes to the threads of the economy around you, and you’ll find you never run out of ideas for drumming up new business.
Well, there you go, a small hint of what’s to come. Stay tuned tomorrow!
